Happy Australia Day nachträglich.
Am Mittwoch stand ganz Down Under Kopf: Es war der Nationalfeiertag. Das heißt, dass alle frei hatten und ins Freie geströmt sind. Es war super heiß an dem Tag. Was uns nicht weiter gestört hat, denn wir sind in einen Ferienpark nördlich von Newcastle gefahren, wo wir gebadet haben und mit der ganzen Familie die Tag genossen haben – ganze Familie meint Oma, Opa, Amy, Tim + 3 boys und Tante Sally und Onkel Jamie mit 4 von 5 Kindern :) Also ordentlich was los gewesen. Ich war mit den Kindern und den anderen Erwachsenen bestimmt 2 Stunden am Stück im Wasser und habe mir meinen ersten Sonnenbrand geholt- aber der ist jetzt schon wieder weg, also wars nicht so schlimm. Dann haben wir gepicknickt- Chips und Cracker mit Käse und natürlich kühlen Getränken.

Wednesday was the national holiday of Australia- everyone was off work and headed out of town or to the beach. It was a hot summer day, but we didn´t care because we went up North in a camping park where we went swimming and enjoyed a great day outside. The whole family- gran and poppie, Amy, Tim + 3 boys and uncle Jamie and aunt Sally with their 4 kids. Pretty busy day as you might guess. We´ve been in the water with all the kids for about 2 hours and I get my first sunburn- but it´s gone now so it wasn´t to bad ;) Then we had a picknik – chips and crackers with cheese and cool drinks of course.

Gegen halb 4 sind wir dann weiter gefahren zum Fischen. An diesem Fluss habe ich dann übrigens das erste Mal Delfine gesehen- einfach traumhaft. Jedenfalls wurden 5 Fische gefangen, aber da diese zu klein waren, sind sie nochmal davon gekommen und wurden zurück ins Wasser geworfen. Es ist übrigens Tradition, dass man dem Fischchen ein Küsschen gibt, bevor man es wieder ins Wasser wirft- ich hab mich aber nicht getraut diesen zapplig-wabbligen Fisch zu küssen- und dann ist er auch noch weggesprungen, weil ich zu lang gezögert habe- iiih... Aber da wir bestimmt noch öfter mal fischen gehen, muss ich mich bestimmt irgendwann mal überwinden.
Jedenfalls endete der Australia Day mit einem Drink in Newcastle. Also insgesamt ein langer und anstrengender, aber echt toller Tag.
* At around half past 3 we went fishing. At this river I saw dolphins for the first time- just unbelievable great. The boys caught 5 fish but they were too small and were thrown back into the water. One tradition is to kiss the little fish before it is thrown back- I should do it but it was just too yucky.... and then the fish jumped and moved on the ground.... iiih But since we´ll go fishing soon again I might do it one day.
Australia Day ended with a drink in Newcastle- Bulmers again ;) It was a long and exhausting day but lots of fun.

Die restlichen Tage der Woche verbrachte ich nicht weniger aufregend. Natürlich „arbeite“ ich jetzt hier auch richtig, sprich hüte die Kinder und mache etwas Hausarbeit, aber es ist immer irgendwas aufregendes los: Am Donnerstag verbrachte ich den Nachmittag beispielsweise mit Oli und Gran (der Oma, der Jungs), die uns durch Newcastle fuhr und mir einen tollen Ausblickspunkt zeigte.
* The rest of the week was very exciting as well. Ok, of course I was caring for the boys and doing the housework but Thursday afternoon Gran took me and Oli for a drive to Newcastle again and showed me around. We went to a hill were you had a great view over the cute city – although the weather was not that good it was awesome.
Am Freitag hat der Opa frische Garnelen gebracht, die mir, obwohl ich ja sonst nicht so gern Muscheln und Shrimps und so esse, total gut geschmeckt haben. Wir mussten die natürlich zuerst puhlen, aber da fast alle mitgeholfen haben, ging es schnell.
* Friday night I had prawns for the first time in my life- although I don´t like seafood these were really good. Poppie got them fresh and we had to prepare them- good that almost everybody helped so that we had a good dinner.

Danach bin ich dann zur Feier des Tages wieder nach Newcastle gefahren und mit Sveni, meiner neuen Freundin, feiern gegangen. Habe einige Australier kennen gelernt und auch drei Deutsche, die hier Work und Travel machen.
* Afterwards I went out with Sveni- dancing in Newcastle again. We got to know some Australiansand also some Germans who are doing Work-and-Travel over here.

An meinem freien Samstag habe ich mich dann mal ausgeruht. Beziehungsweise habe ich endlich mal etwas länger geschlafen. Und dann war ich in der nächsten Stadt Raymond Terrace, wo wir etwas einkaufen waren (Schuluniformen für die Jungs und für mich eine „Stranduniform“ - Bikini, Shorts und dazu passende FlipFlops).
Am Samstagabend war es dann mit dem Ausruhen schon wieder vorbei: Tim und Onkel Jamie waren fischen, was für die daheimgebliebenen Mädels (inclusive mich) bedeutete, dass wir wieder 7 Kinder zu hüten hatten. Und diese Kinder waren bis halb 12 und länger wach :( (Am nächsten Tag waren dann natürlich alle hundemüde).
* My first day off, Saturday, was really nice. I slept a little longer and went shopping to Raymond Terrace, a little town nearby. We got school uniforms for the boys and a beach uniform (bikini, shorts and matching thongs) for me.
But my quiet day ended Saturday night because Tim and uncle Jamie wanted to go fishing and I stayed at home with Amy, Sally and 7 kids. And these kids stayed awake till 11.30- of course they were deadly tired the next day.
Sonntag bin ich dann das erste Mal shoppen gewesen- endlich mal wieder :) Da die Australierinnen hier vorwiegend Kleider anhaben, wenn sie abends weggehen, habe ich mir auch zwei Kleider gekauft, eine kurze Hose und ein paar Oberteile. Mein Problem werden allerdings Schuhe werden, denn es gab da, wo ich gestern war, nur 2 paar Schuhe in meiner Größe- keine Ahnung, ob hier alle Frauen super große Füße haben, oder ob ich einfach nur zu klein bin.... es war jedenfalls voll deprimierend, dass es alle schönen Schuhe in allen Größen gab, bis auf die, die mir passt.
*Sunday I went shopping (real shopping) for the first time in Newcastle. Since the Australian girls are wearing skirts and dresses when they are going out I had to get some as well. And some shorts and shirts. My only problem were the shoes- none of them were my size- I don´t know whether Australian girls have pretty big feet or whether mine are just too small.... it will be a problem- I really need some shoes.

Heute ist Sams erster Schultag in der 3.Klasse gewesen. Luke geht dann ab Mittwoch in die Schule und Oli ab nächste Woche immer montags. Dann wird es also ruhige im Haus, wenn ich alle zum Bus, der vor er Haustür hält, gebracht habe. Montags und eventuell auch Donnerstags hab ich dann so gut wie frei. Nicht schlecht :)
* Today is Sam´s first day of school- he´s in third year now and was excited. Luke is going to school on Wednesday as well and Oli is starting on day of school a week next week. It will be more quiet when all the boys are gone during the day. Monday and Thursday might be almost off then- which would not be too bad ;)
